Bactivate Plus

Bactivate Plus consists of three natural soil bacteria on a humate base.  Bactivate Plus is a more economical alternative for the situation where soil health, having earlier being restored with Bactivate, is now being maintained.  Completely natural, it assists in providing nutrient and trace elements to plants.

As with Bactivate, Bactivate Plus contains carefully-chosen soil bacteria.  In this case, there are three bacteria:

Bacillus subtilis supports plant browth. As a member of Bacillus, this bacterium often plays a role in replenishing soil nutrients by supplying the terrestrial carbon cycle and the nitrogen cycle. Bacillus subtilis bacteria form rough biofilms, which are dense organism communities, at the air and water interface. These biofilms are beneficial; the B. subtilis biofilm communities form a mutualistic interaction with plant rhizome systems. The plant benefits because B. subtilis provides preemptive colonization. Bacillus subtilis biofilms found in the rhizosphere of plants promote growth and serve as a biocontroller. In this sense, B. subtilis biofilm communities form a mutualistic interaction with plant rhizome systems.

Bacillus mucilaginosus is regarded as a ‘Potassium-Decomposing’ bacterium with the ability to produce organic acids that degrade the potassium minerals present in soil such as silicates, apatites and phosphorites and release available forms of potassium . Chinese scientists have extensively studied this bacterium and reported potassium increases in soils of around 33-34%. B. mucilaginosus also produces exopolysaccahrides, which may act as sorbents of heavy metal ions (Nyanikova et al. 2001).

Bacillus licheniformis is regarded as a biofertiliser and has extensive colonisation and competitive abilities.

There is evidence that Bacillus licheniformis has significantly increased the height of plants and leaf area in pepper and tomato plants under seedbed and greenhouse production conditions. The number and diameter of tomato fruits increased when the tomato seedlings grew in sand inoculated with this bacterium. What’s more, the total weight of pepper harvested from inoculated soil increased significantly with regard to control non-inoculated plants (Lucas Garcia et al. 2004).
